Work-in-Progress Wednesday 56

Hi everyone! This is going to be short today as it's kind of late and I have to get up at the crack of dawn (as I write these posts Tuesday night). I'm excited that I should have time to check out some WIPW posts this week!

Some of you may be wondering where my Candy Skein post is for this week! I've decided to move that to Thursdays, due to my sanity. I'd like to keep it. ;) Mondays/Tuesdays wasn't working out and was just too stressful trying to get the new yarn finished. Look for a post tomorrow (Thursday) to see new colorways. Also, I have big big news next week to share regarding Candy Skein. I can't wait to tell you all. I'll be releasing the new KAL next week, too!

Let's get to WIPW!

My Little Shells so far. I've actually finished all of the charts except for the border, but due to having SOOO much yarn left (I still have 72 grams out of 100), I'm going to probably end up doubling the lace section. I started to today at my meet up group, but then realized that it wasn't working out right, so I'm having to tink back about 200 stitches. NOT fun! LOL I still love the project though, the yarn is great for it and I can't wait to block it!

Many of you asked about my skirt last week (thank you for that!). I just didn't have much more to show you, so I figured since I will be working on this for a LONG time, I wouldn't bother posting it. This week, I have a bit more done, so I thought I'd include it. It's now getting too wide for my picture set up! Slowly but surely....

That's it for me today! Happy WIPW!

FO Friday 49

Hi everyone! I'm feeling a little under the weather, so I'm going to keep this pretty short. I wanted to share this, even though it isn't knitting/crocheting. As many of you know, I got a sewing machine for my birthday last year. I really haven't done a ton with it, other than purse linings. Since Tiki Oasis was coming up, and I had some tiki fabric lying around, I knew I wanted to try my hand at a box bag. I bought one awhile ago on Etsy, and it worked perfect for Tiki Caliente a few months ago. It not only held a small knitting project, but also my keys, phone and a little money.

I got down to work using this pattern. It seemed simple at first, but not having any experience following a pattern, I was a little lost until I called a friend and she explained it to me. It turned out a little lopsided, but it worked great! The pattern really is easy, once you make one and learn what each part makes on the bag. I can't wait to make another one. I know I could improve my work 110%. I'm sure if you have experience sewing, you could make this in no time flat! I can't remember who originally shared the pattern during an FO Friday, but I just wanted to say thank you! It fit everything I needed that weekend, including a shawl!

I think these make perfect gifts for not only the knitter/crocheter in your life, but anyone! Kids can use them as pencil cases/crayon holders. I think they're perfect as a small clutch type bag, or even a makeup bag for travel!

Share your FOs!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 55

Hi all! I hope you're having a great week so far. Mine has been a hectic one, but I think all is settling down for now and things worked out for the best! YAY! We had a great time this past weekend, as I mentioned in my post Monday. It's always sad to see an event pass you look forward to for a lot of the year. I guess we'll always have next year's Tiki Oasis.

I'm watching my nieces again, but will still try and make it to as many WIPWs as possible. I don't have a ton to share, but I got a little knitting done since last Wednesday.

I took the yarn to start my husband's second sock this weekend and got a bit of the ribbing done but not as much as I was hoping for. It got dark a lot earlier than I was thinking, so I only have a little time Friday night and Saturday evening to work on it before I just couldn't see what I was doing anymore. I have about 10 more rows of the ribbing, then a few stockinette before I start the heel flap. I hope to have the second sock done soon, but I don't want to put pressure on myself to finish since I really don't have any kind of deadline. The yarn is Knit Picks Imagination in Frog Prince.

Now the shawl. As you may have remembered, I started the Dane pattern for the Candy Skein KAL, but frogged it. I'm now working on Little Shells which is going great after some quick help from my knitting group. I finished the stockinette and first lace repeat, and am about to go up a needle size, as I forgot to when I started the lace. For lace section 2, I'm going up one, and then for lace section 3, I'll go up one more. I was originally supposed to go up 2 to start the lace but totally forgot. My friend from my knitting group thought going up gradually would be best at this point. I'm loving the pattern, especially now that I have stitch markers for every 7 rows to see where I'm at in the pattern. It's a pretty easy pattern to memorize which is the kind I LOVE. Again, I'm using Delicious fingering in Blueberry Sorbet. I must say, not to pimp my own product, but this has to be the best yarn I've ever used. Just the yarn alone makes me want to work on the project more and more. Unfortunately, I only got 3 1/2-4 hours of sleep last night, so I didn't want to work on it today as I was afraid being so tired would screw me up!

That's it for me and this WIPW. What are you working on?

Candy Skein- New Yummy and Delicious Fingering

Hi all! I had SUCH a great weekend, and I hope you did, too. I have quite a bit of yarn to share with you today, so I'm going to keep the introduction short. Today I'm sharing the Delicious Fingering and Yummy fingering that I dyed last week. There are new kettle dyed colorways, as well as hand painted. I also dyed 3 skeins of Yummy fingering in Blackberry in the same dye lot, as it's a very popular colorway. Also, this would be enough to do a large knitted/crocheted item like a sweater.

If you'd like to see more pictures of a certain skein, please click on the "buy" button. This will just take you to the Candy Skein Artfire page, and will not automatically take you to a buy page.

FO Friday 48

YAY, it's Friday! We had a lovely time last night, kicking off Tiki Oasis at the Bali Hai restaurant. We listened to a few bands, had some food and drinks and then headed home. Today starts the craziness! I'm super excited because I got a dress I ordered from Hawaii just in time, as the package arrived yesterday! I'll try and take some pictures of the festivities if I get a chance.

Now it's time for FO Friday!

Since several of you agreed, I wanted to share pictures of my finished sock that I knit for my husband! I'm hoping to get a bit of the second sock finished this weekend while listening to bands since it's such a simple knit. I was stupid and forgot to take good pictures of the socks, so I decided (with permission) to post this one that I took on Wednesday night. My crazy husband decided he was going to walk around in the one sock all night. Do you think he's trying to tell me something? Oh yes, and please excuse his flame pj pants. LOL I'll give you all of the details when I finish the second one and have a TRUE FO, as I'm not marking this down yet on my counter in the sidebar.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 54

Hi everyone! I hope you're getting through your Wednesday with your sanity intact. I'll be watching my nieces today, so won't have too much time to comment on yours posts, but all of your comments here are greatly appreciated. This coming weekend is a big one in my household, as it's Tiki Oasis! It's a tiki convention in our own city, which is awesome since we don't have to travel to go! It's a 3 1/2 day event (starts Thursday night at the local tiki restaurant/bar) and ends Sunday. There will be tons of music, symposiums, a marketplace and more! It's a blast and I think I'll even get some knitting time in. My husband is participating in a few classes/symposiums that I won't be. I'm so excited. :)

Now on to WIPW!

I finished one of the socks I was working on, so you'll get to see that Friday. I know, kind of cheating since it's only 50% of the project finished, but a finished sock is a finished sock in my book.

Remember the shawl I was knitting for the Candy Skein KAL? Yeah, well, I frogged it. It just wasn't speaking to me and I just couldn't get the pattern down right. I was working on Dane, but decided to do Little Shells instead. It's coming along great. I just started it Monday evening, so I don't have much, and it's just the boring stockinette part. I'm using the same yarn, Delicious fingering in Blueberry Sorbet and still loving it. For those of you wondering, it also frogged beautifully.

I'm also still working on my skirt. I'm almost finished with the second pleat and loving it still. I haven't had a chance to work on it, since I was finishing the sock and starting the new shawl, but it's such an easy pattern I'll be able to take it with me this weekend. For those asking what yarn it is, I'm using Knit Picks Stroll Tonal in colorway Thunderhead.

Well, that's it for me today! I hope you have a great rest of the week, and I'll see you all on Friday!

Candy Skein- New Yummy Fingering

Hi everyone. I hope you had a good weekend. I have four new skeins of Yummy Fingering to share with you today. Two of the colorways today are new to Yummy Fingering (but not to Candy Skein), one is a new colorway as a whole and the last is an old favorite (because everyone loves Blackberry, right? It sure seems like it!).

I've been working hard to update the Candy Skein website, yet the change isn't visible yet. I'm making it so buyers can check out straight from the Candy Skein website itself, yet it will still be 100% safe and secure. I will be keeping my Artfire site for a few months probably, just until the transition is smoothed out. I will still be accepting Paypal, and you won't need a Paypal account to check out, but can just use a credit card in the Paypal system. I hope to finish this in the next week or so!

Now let's get to the new yarn!

FO Friday 47

Happy almost weekend! I hope you all have a great time doing whatever you have planned and perfect weather for it. We have a wedding to go to at the beach this weekend. To be honest, I had no clue what I was going to wear. After raiding my sister's closet for a dress and getting a special surprise in the mail, I totally have an awesome outfit! Want to see the surprise?

It's a gorgeous Aeolian shawl in Candy Skein Delicious lace yarn in the Candy Skein colorway. It's a colorway I specifically dyed for this shawl, and haven't made another skein in this colorway after. I wanted it to match my Candy Skein logo, and I think it got pretty close!

I'm so very lucky to know and call a friend a very talented lady named Robin. She's in my Monday night knitting group and offered to make me a sample shawl for when I do marketplaces/conventions/craft shows. How could I say no!? Isn't it AMAZING!!?? I can't help but pet it (even my cat, Roxy couldn't not pet it!) and it's sooo soft and light. The drape is amazing. I have crazy sensitive skin, and I was wearing it over a tank top around the house last night and I didn't have any issues whatsoever. I plan to take pictures of me with it on and the little black dress I'm going to wear it with on Saturday!

That's it for me for FO Friday. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to share that I've actually knit. I hope you don't mind me sharing Robin's beautiful work, but I couldn't help but brag at my new addition to my wardrobe.

Share you FOs!

Work-in-Progress Wednesday 53

Howdy, all! I didn't have time to post my YoP post, so I thought I would combine it with WIPW today. I hope you don't mind. I want to start the post off with a bang, since I don't have too much to share with you today. I'm going to announce the winners of the skein of Candy Skein Yummy sock yarn, and a knitting or crochet magazine. Thank you all who entered and to all for participating in WIPWs throughout the first year! I picked the winners at random (via two different people picking number) to those who commented and were eligible. Here are the winners!

elephantJuice

and

Dina

Please email me at candyskein@gmail.com with your choice of a knitting or crochet magazine and also what colorway of Yummy fingering you'd like me to send you from what is currently in stock!

Now onto WIPW!

I don't have a new picture of my shawl yet, as I haven't worked on it much. I messed up and need help fixing it (and advice if I should frog or not), but now I'm back on track. It's just not enough to show, so next week. It's hard to get good knitting time on this, as I'm having trouble knitting without making a mistake when I'm at a group, watching tv, etc.

The sock has grown since last week, that's for sure! I'm on the home stretch of sock 1 and it fits great for him so far! I need to do a few more inches until decreasing for the toe. Smooth sailing. Then on to sock two!

So here's the skirt. I frogged part of it yesterday to bring the pleat to a decent length. They are bigger than the pattern calls for, but I liked the way it looked. Now I'm back to working on it and happy! I moved the stitch markers to work with my pattern now, so I'm happy. We'll see how it goes from here.

That's it for me this week! Have a great Wednesday! I'll try and comment on as many blogs as possible, but will be watching my nieces today.
